The End of My Line...The Start of My New Day

Nafis Light

Busy streets, busy people;
I'm alone till the end;
This is all I could comprehend,
So why the hell should I live?!

In that moment of silence,
I close my eyes till I could feel no more;
I fall so deep like I've never felt before;
This is my end...or so I thought....

A sudden light appears
telling me that there's more to live for;
I have to find it...I have to soar;
I have to give Light and Love.

In that moment of truth,
My body shines;
I see the golden lines
that leads to that door.

As I turn the knob,
There's nothing but a blinding light,
Turns out...it is a wonderful sunlight;
I then smile...knowing exactly how to live the rest of my days.

  • Comment from author about the poem: The title 'The End of My Line' was the darkest series of poems I wrote long ago and I threw it away because too dark. So I was having the idea of taking the suicidal part of it (the part I could remember the most) and give light into it...so that the story no longer has a dark ending, but sort of a hope instead. The initial ones were created when I was very pessimistic about myself and expressed the darkness within through poetry. Now I'm not like that anymore. This one is more like...take in the darkness and turn it into light, and show that light instead.

    It's beautiful that you can effortlessly transform something so dark and cathartic into something so uplifting. Keep those spirits up!

    The light is always out there, in those dark days it was just hard to see but when you opened your eyes the light shone inside you.
