Put Down Our Phones

Tiffany_Arnold

We are walking around glancing at our phones
Zombies to the community brainwashing our souls.
Talking about clones, or who is the prettiest gemstone.
We miss the flowers
We miss the trees,
We miss everything that is just above our screens
Honestly most of you are focused on being mean.
“She isn’t pretty, he is fat
Look at the girl she looks like a rat.”
It’s not right, and this makes me scared
To see a community so strong act like we need to compare.

We spread negativity instead of peace
We talk about unnecessary things like sexual release.
“Look Jim is drunk and Tasha is mad
Lisa is sad, Sam said she never had a dad.”
You see what I mean?
Is this a dream?
When are we all going to stop acting like dramatic teens?

Let’s talk about work, how did it go?
Did you ever get that promotion that you have been waiting for?
Open the doors because there is so much more
Let’s stop arguing and throw that shit on the floor.
Facts, let’s talk facts
December 7th 1941 Pearl Harbor was attacked.
No need to over react, I’m just saying
I’m not interested in this game that most of you are playing.

I don’t want to criticize others I want to uplift
I want to make others feel like they fit.
Let’s have a conversation, look at the stars
No I don’t mean take a picture because that is not where we are.
Put down our phones, hold each other tight
Realize that everything is going to be alright.
Cherish each other
Share your words, because tomorrow you might not wake up to see the world.

Very true words Tiffany, people just do not see life around them anymore - I do though and I am sure that you do as well.
