Tune: Engelberg

('All praise to thee, for thou, O King divine')

John 6 v.35-40

*********

Jesus  said, I the bread of life true be

They that come to me shall ne'er hunger, see

And they that believe on me,shall sure they

Refreshed be every day

They shall ne'er thirst, but e'er be satisfied

All that the Father gives Christ, they confide

In Him, and He will no way cast them out

Of this there be no doubt

For Christ came down from heaven, not to do

His own will, but His Father's will ensue

For the Father did send Christ from above

Unto us in His love

And this is the Father's will, Jesus said

At the last day raise up all from the dead

All that the Father has given unto

Jesus, He saves not few

And this too be the Father's will that each

Who sees the Son, and believes, within reach

Believes on the Son, such may have life too

Life e'erlasting and new

    Hello Orchidee,

A spiritually uplifting write. Great poem.

Isaiah 41:13 comes to mind to me when I read this.

    Keep writing FineB

      Thanks Fine.

I could not read beyond the first few lines because..... how does an omnipotent christian god bring forth famine whilst saying you shall not hunger.
A god who does those things is not worthy of worship.

I see what you mean dusk. Some of my poems may seem all jolly - God provides, etc. And some reply 'Oh yeah, pull the other one'. I can't escape entirely by saying 'It's man's fault, or most of it; we've not distributed the food properly'. I don't know why there are famines, etc.
And yet we shall not SPIRITUALLY hunger nor thirst - food and drink for our souls and bodies, not tangibly seen.

Thanks UNCLE STEVE ~ Very uplifting HYMN and POEM ! JESUS is indeed the WATER of LIFE & the BREAD of LIFE ! We sometimes overlook the fact that Planet Earth provides Food & Water & Oxygen (for the Fauna & CO2 for the Flora) for all the LIVING THINGS in the BIOSPHERE which outnumber H. Sapiens Thousands to ONE ! GOD has provided the FOOD for the 7.5 Billon HUMANS on EARTH and it could feed 15 Bilion by 2100. If people are STARVING ~ dont blame God ~ its HUMAN GREED (Haves & Have nots) poor Storage & Distribution ! Thanks for sharing !

Blessings & Joy to YOU & FIDO
        Yours as always ANGELA & BRIAN 🧡🧡🧡🧡 + 🧡

Thanks B&A. Now look - I'm gonna save air, and not breathe for 24 hours. I tried it once. I didn't feel very well afterwards. Hmmm. (heehee).I not quite got the hang of this conservation, economising, etc. Well, not in this case.

there are indeed many ways.. it would be nice to think we all have an informed choice, but I know this is not always the case...... Neville

Thanks N. Just avoid the way that says 'To Orchi's Home' - cos I'll be singing there! lol.
