The not so reality

vanessa wallace

I watch as everyone gets smothered by the flames

the crackling of the fire as it burns the building

the world is meeting its inevitable end

so why am I not gone yet..?

  • Comment from author about the poem: This short poem is simply about being in a dream that appears and feels real, but in reality, is nothing more than a figment of your own imagination. I wrote a story not long ago about someone detaching from reality and becoming obsessed with their dreams. It's a fascinating topic and I want to write about it more. Perhaps I'll write more poems based off of this one.

Because it's a dream, not all dreams come true, only those that bring you joy come true.

Practically. Its a loop I used to be obsessed with.
