Tune: St Bees
('Hark my soul, it is the Lord')
James 2 v.14-26 part
**********
Faith without works, it be dead
Let us not here be misled
If only words, no action
'Tis profitless, nothing done
Abraham his faith did show
Trusted in God here below
His son Isaac was to be
And offering for God, see
But this was not carried out
Though he obeyed with no doubt
God no human sacrifice
Desired, save Christ paid our price
Abraham's faith it was seen
In what he did humbly, keen
Faith it did with his works wrought
And was to perfection brought
Perfect, complete, we do see
Faith and works together be
Lord help us our faith to show
In action, obeying you

I know that faith can move mountains.. but I never knew that there were profiteroles when James was around...
Yep, fish and chips too! It profits all - them profiteroles!
How true that faith must be followed by action - thanks for this tuneful reminder dear Orchi.
Thanks Fay.
Orchi, if I may....
Who is to be admired more:
Abraham for his faith
OR
God for even asking?
If we do not want to understand than we cannot avoid peril.
Thanks Suresh. I don't know. But the human sacrifice of Isaac was not required to be carried out (stanza 3).
That last stanza says it all Orchi.
Thanks Gold.
