Zeal For Zion

Tune: St James' Air

('How lovely is thy dwelling place')

Psalm 87

********

His foundation in holy mount (Mount Zion)

Is, there flow all His founts

Of blessing, mercy, and of grace

His desired dwelling place

He loves the gates of Zion more

Than all the dwellings sure

Of Israel, for Zion be

His chosen place, here see

Glorious things of you, city

Of God are spoken, we

Make mention too of enemies

Who in peace in city be

People from Egypt, Babylon

Philistia, daughters, sons

And Tyre and Ethiopia

There too we do concur

They settled, born in family

And they of Zion, see

They born there, the highest He shall

Write of them and shall tell

The LORD, the highest, He shall count

All on His holy mount

He shall say that they be born there

An inheritance share

There too be singers and players

On instruments, gifts stir

To praise the LORD, and all His springs

In Zion are, each sings
