The week had been hard,
No let up from the caring,
The caring of my loved one,
But tonight I was going out,
As I do each week,
Going out to the choir.
The carer arrived
And off I went,
My loved one still in my mind.
The choir assembled
The first notes were sung.
Then it happened,
I was transported,
Transported into a new world,
A world of music and words,
Where all was well,
Where I was well.
Gone to that wonderful place
Where singing carries me
And troubles no longer exist.
Like a flash it was over,
Two hours gone in a moment.
But as I went home
I was uplifted,
Maybe only for a short time,
But that feeling was wonderful.
It is the thing that singing can do,
It can take you to a different world,
Where life is beautiful,
And all is right in my world.

- Comment from author about the poem: I am a founder member of a Community Choir, both my wife and I belonged to it but my wife can no longer mange to come to it due to her dementia but it is the one free night a week that I have when a carer comes in to sit with her, it means so much to me to be able to still sing with the choir.

What a gift is music dear Andy and you describe its effect so well -- thank you for sharing the beauty music brings to your life. A lovely first read of my day.
Thank you Fay, singing releases the endorphins that can bring joy to the mind.
I must come along then. Aww, why ain't there any endorphins from folk when I sing? heehee.
You are always welcome Orchi.
By all MEANS ~ UNCLE ANDY ~ We all have to preserve our QUALITY of LIFE ! Angela & I have sung in Chiors since we were at School and it is of all things most Cathartic. In NZ ANGELA is in the Church Choir and the MAORI CHOIR which she loves ! As Ive said before I have been giving talks on S & G and the Seniors love them. They were Good Kosher Boys ~ so a lot of their songs (Like SOS & BOTW) are very SPIRITUAL. Its only just 8pm in Essex ~ so this is great uplift for the Morning ! Love this version of SOS !
Blessings & Peace & Love for YOU & JOYCE
Yours through Poetry & Song BRIAN & ANGELA 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Thank you Brian, SOS and BOTW are two of the songs that appears in our concert repertoire every few years. Apart from some lighter stuff we are concentrating on excerpts from the Messiah at the moment.
I am so glad you feel able to share these moments... they are very moving indeed, but also inspiring in a way hard to describe in a short space and time.... N
