Fret Not To Do Evil

orchidee

Tune: Louvan

('Lord of all being, throned afar')

*******

Forgive me, Lord, too heavy load

I take upon myself, forebode

Then lose your peace, not wait your time

Perfectly instilled in life's rhyme

Help me to seek solutions clear

Always trusting that you are near

To help, to guide, to sanctify

Your holy presence to me nigh

Not turmoil, anguish, spread around

But that praises to you resound

Led by your wisdom, what to do

And what to say, imitate you

Guide me one thing to do, not rush

Many things at once, fluster, crush

Shall I be, for not sensibly

Would I live, nor be anxious-free

So witnessing of your peace true

It will inspire, strengthen anew

Then shall more of Christ's image be

Revealed, and all around shall see

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.8.8.8. metre. Written after a 'fluster' or 'wobbly' (verse 4). But I haven't found any hymns with the words 'thrown a wobbly' in them!

A fluster I said, not a hot flush! Though I am very old, and may need to look out for them! lol.
