Tune: Divine Mysteries
('Sweet Sacrament divine')
*******
A Communion fine
Inspire, wisdom divine
Fan flame within each heart
To burn there, every part
Unto your glory, servant we
By grace your blessings we do see
All worship now humbly
All worship now humbly
Rise, songs to your Lord praise
And Him some anthem raise
Taking tunes old and too
Learning melodies new
Not silent, let His praise be heard
Expressions of the living Word
Sing sweetly as a bird
Sing sweetly as a bird
For all creation's voice
Joins in, and does rejoice
Each creature makes a sound
To you it does redound
You ever worthy to receive
More than we can think or conceive
True, whole, with no deceive
True, whole, with no deceive
'Til final trumpet sound
Let praises wide abound
Yet then still on it goes
Honour endless bestows
On you great God, you Lord of all
Your love sustains, we shall not fall
Tributes to you ne'er stall
Tributes to you ne'er stall

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 6.6.6.6. 8.8.6.6. metre. I was in a Cathedral service. Some did not sing! I did not even know some of the hymns, but some chose not to sing even well-known hymns. It's sad. Every creature has it sound to praise the Lord - barks from Fido; squeaks from guinea pigs; trees 'clapping their hands' etc. A prayer at the start of another service did not help: 'I weave a silence on my lips'. Well, should be in a monastery or nunnery then. Doh!

A wonderful share!
Read your author’s comments.
Whenever I see the word ‘nunnery’, it makes me think of Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales! Fido would’ve barked at that one! Lol
~Laura~
Thanks Laura. I never could read the Canterbury Tales in ye olde Englishe. When I read a modern version of it, I swooned, and yes, Fido barked! lol.
It was a required reading at the school I attended! (I was 14 yrs. old) When I came to the word ‘nunnery’, I automatically thought of a convent for nuns! What did I know at that age?...not very much I guess!!🙄
Same here Laura. I hated that book at school, due to the fact I couldn't understand 99% of it in olde language!
Yup...spot on!😉
I much prefer the saxophone, but otherwise there is nothing like blowin ones own harmonica......
Thanks N.
Good one Orchi.
