Alone in the Dust

Chagrined

Macabre images

Dance on the floor

In through the Keyhole

And under the door

On the edge of consciousness

Vexing anxiety

Overwhelming futility

Abandoning sobriety

Lost hope

Diminished dreams

Into the caldron

Admonishment beams

The punishment fits

The crime it provoked

To get to this point

Happiness revoked

Succumbing to darkness

Like a baby swaddled

To disappear in eternity

And never be coddled

Alone in the dust

My corpse breaks down

Recycle complete

God ceases to frown

This is a great rhyme! Evokes feelings of sadness but at the same time I am so glad to see another poet with talent like yours!

    • Chagrined

That is very kind of you! Thanks so much, Christina.

Wonderful write but that darkness can be overcome as the light is always there.

You know reading this again from a far was enabled me to appreciate it even more.

I wonder about the cycle within. It reminded me of a wave, relentless, inevitable but it will retreat and may even leave new treasure to be discovered on your shore 😌

New treasures eh... what might those be? @sylviasearcher. Thanks for reading....again!
