The Truth Of It

SerenWise

Like a kitten with its fur brushed up all the wrong way,

Or a day with no weather, when it all fades to grey,

When the saw hits a knot in the grain of the wood,

When you cannot feel grateful, though you know that you should.

When your voice is not hanging in the evening air,

As hard as I try, I just can't feel you there;

We are straining our bonds, as we struggle and heave,

Even when I feel angry, I could not bear to leave.

You're the light of my life, my soulmate, the one,

If you're gone I feel like someone's switched off the sun;

It is pointless to pine away, feeling neglected,

While you're blasting out music and feeling dejected,

You're the piece to my puzzle, it's clear that you solve me,

I'm the wordsmith, providing the lines for your melody.
