The "who" I shall retain

Poetic Dan

I get caught up with many battles, played on my shelf

Each time words are left, my imagination wishes to carry them on

They are keeping my shelf full, I just can't keep up

Each day I greet many dogs I empty it with ease

To create the reflection I desire, it must be only love, respect and peace

From this moment forward boundaries are in place

To see every human is in their own race, as I must keep focus on my own pace

Dancing like no one is watching, singing down memory lane

I'm about to lose control and yet stillness does remains

No guilt will turn me round, no pressure will make me fold

Each time I take that breath in, I blow clean my shelf untold

After years of guidance, nothing will ever remain

As each moment is freshly new, in eyes that reflect my name

That's the "who" I shall retain, when walls of shame are closing in

I was the only one to blame, forgiveness holds many names

Forgiving and moving forward is a vision easier seen than carried through. Take your time.

After 30 years my time as been taken but I understand it could take that again. At least I've met many on their way 😉

The clock starts ticking from the first day that you want to forgive and move forward - not from the day you were born.
When you are on the other side of it, it will shine from you and your poetry will change for all to see.
        Take your time.

That felt a bit harsh and I am aware it could take another 30 years to stay where my bar is set!
Always appreciate your reflection my friend

May that clean shelf become full of words that carry you into a wonderful future.

Absolutely or just empty and free. Every moment to enjoy, good or bad at least in living it!

You are not there yet, are you.. but you have moved forward, and that is the main thing.........actually, to be honest, I dont believe there is a there yet.. life and living and all that it consists of is a continuum .. a series of choices and risks, decisions and opportunities.... there are several excellent lines within this poem.. very meaningful ones...... Congratulations on your new life of moving forward. Forgiving is not always easy to do but a good route to your path of healing. Much respect, Dan. Christina
