Enemy of being great

Aa Harvey

Enemy of being great

The Gods are clearly angry at the way we live our lives;

They have warned us, they have threatened us

And still we pay them no mind.

Alcohol is the Devil’s gift to the world;

It stops my brain from being able to think.

I shouldn’t complain about alcohol,

Because I have decided to no longer drink.

You are handed a book telling you how to lead your life,

But there is no time left to complete the story.

I have my independence, my own thoughts and I cannot fall in line;

Enemy of being great…my old friend apathy.

The bigger you are the harder you will fall;

I will rise so far above the norm

And still I shall remain nothing at all.

    I like the way you write. I too read that book and becoming truly adult rejected most of it. Vindicated now that we learn it is full of mis-translations and bending of the facts. Then i learn that the biggest christian church is one of the richest organisations in the world who trade in billions of dollars on the stock markets..... disgusting to think that all that money could be helping so many in a 'christian' spirited way.

    I am a variation of the norm, i am nothing... this life will be one of several along my learning journey of.... well i'm not sure of what.... but i hold a firm faith in reincarnation.
