The Gift

SerenWise

Only the stars are with me tonight,

Their gaze unblinking and cold.

Night time creatures scuttle and squirm

In the shadows,

Their movements unnoticed.

I am unnoticed too, sat out alone -

Not a figure stirs in the windows,

Nor a hand reaches out to help me.

Happiness is such a wonderful gift,

Which many will take for granted,

But that I have yet to receive.
