Underprized..

Fay Slimm.

Underprized.

Love, the underprized eternal God-word
has become today

mostly outmoded.

Alteration stains its disguised state, for
love, absurdly changed to shadows,
is merely pretence

and seems corroded.

Masquerading as depth with no worth
love lies weakened and is nothing
special, seen by some

as almost inept.

Left un-nurtured, this gift called love
withers when carnal lust invades
and fades its force to

rating mere second.

Desecration of words begets usurpers,
and non-use deteriorates power
love is viewed as

emotion demeaned.

Once confessed love needs constancy,
otherwise as with any mistook
God-word, compromised

love becomes surreal.

We begin to understand love as a romantic notion i think. But as we mature so we become aware that love is a much much bigger 'force' for good in this world.

Love is all and love is our teacher. Love is Godly, though so abused.

Gosh you really got my juices flowing with your piece today.

    • Fay Slimm.

Thank you so much for this well considered comment my friend - yes the notion of love is all of that "force " which you mention and humanity is on a journey of understanding it more.....

I must say I love that quote!
I do love your poem today, it does seem that 'love' has become abused as the word has just been thrown around. This is a great write and goes into my faves.

          • Fay Slimm.

Humble thanks dear Christina for adding my words to your favourites - love is worthy of all the attention we poets could give it - - so pleased you found the quote helpful too.

Love, as any other emotion, is uncontrollable. Neither can we deliberately act upon it, nor can we control it. In majority of the cases, love is a grossly missed word, where "like", a concerted effort, better describes the feeling.
As such, your poem well defines the underprization of the word "love"

            • Fay Slimm.

Yes love indeed is beyond our control and I am grateful for your in-put to the few words I wrote on its value as we continue our discovery of love's force. Thank you Suresh.
