DINER

Thomas J. Dooley

Three eggs medium, hash browns, and toast

Coffee, please as the noise of dishes crash into the bus tub

"Would that be all" she would say

"Nothing else thank you" I would say

Looking at the jukebox to see what Prince song to play

"Breakfast Can Wait" will go good with these eggs

In a flash, the cook brings me a plate

The tattooed waitress refills my coffee

Will her tip go to fill in the rest of the tattoo on her neck

Enjoyed this write and learnt something. Never knew what a bus tub is - apparently it's predominantly an American term for a large restaurant container mainly where you put dirty crockery etc. Thanks for the interesting posting.

Sorry too busy experiencing life so I can write. I do read other poetry that speaks to me, but most of the times it is mine. If I were to criticize other writers poetry, my comments would be filled with lies, just like this one.
