Celebrating Communion

orchidee

Tune: St Timothy

('O Holy Ghost, they people bless')

*********

Lord, as often as we do meet

And gather round your feet

To share in the Communion feast

For all, greatest to least

As often as we meet, you say

Come near, even today

Eat and drink in remembrance

Of me, then go forth hence

Strengthened with your life-giving bread

You are our living Head

Refreshed, cleansed, by the sparkling wine

Symbol of blood divine

These gifts as symbols, emblems, be

They placed here centrally

Sanctified, set apart, they do

Represent you anew

Your words you did speak, spiritual

Saying, Come one and all

To eat of me, to drink of me

So your salvation be

THANKS FOR CARING & SHARING UNCLE STEVE ! ANGELA HERE ! For Brian & I the Communion service is always a must wherever we are in the World. As Committed Christians we are always welcome at HIS TABLE to celebrate Christs atoning Death until HE RETURNS - AMEN. It is the central celebration of all Christian Denominations and Buzz Aldrin even celebrtaed Communion on the Moon in July 1969. So we can celebrate Communion anytime anywhere sometimes just the two of us in a tent or a caravan miles away from the nearest Church. I guess Buzz's 250,000 miles beats the record ! Thanks too for the hymn - celebrating Gods gift of the HOLY SPIRIT to strengthen & empower the Church ! Our POEM today is a clebration of GODS GOODNESS and is a collaboration - AMEN !

Blessings to YOU & Deputy Dawg !
            Love ANGELA & BRIAN

Thanks B&A. It\'s true. All believers are priests so..... consecrate bread and wine in the absence of an Ordained Priest. We had grape juice sometimes. I helped to prepare it, but it was out of date! What am I trying to do to the congregation?! Out with the old (out-of-date) and get the new wine in! Well, the new grape juice. Someone nipped to the shops, brought some, prayed over it to 'consecrate' it.

Otherwise known as 'The Adventures of Orchi trying to poison the congregation?! Doh! See my comment for B&A.

                Orchi,

As a child, the part of the bread and wine always mystified me!
A fine write! Thank you for sharing!

Thanks Laura. Yes, I always see the bread and wine as symbols or emblems. Christ is not actually present in person 'under the elements' as they say, or else it would be on the lines of cannibalism. When Jesus first said the words, He said 'The words I say unto you are spirit and life' (spiritual, not literally physical).
