Progressing Paces

Tune: Gott Ein Vater

('one tune to 'Faithful vigil ended')

********

If hearts here be heavy

Come, Lord, look and see

Grant us your reviving

So we you shall sing

Cloudy, dull, or dour

If this be our hour

Send us rays of sunshine

Gleams of light divine

Rain to here refresh land

Sent by your good hand

Sustain us in each thing

Life to us does bring

Leave us not, continue

You are the Way true

Show us your plans for each

Of us, and us teach

Whate'er age physical [we may be]

Or age spiritual [we may be]

Help us flee distraction

We your daughters, sons

Salvation for all here

'Til Christ does appear

On earth once again to

All things sure make new

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 6.5.6.5. metre. If we want to be reminded of rain again?! It's 'spiritual rain', as it were. You all cloudy, dull, and dour? Fido is dour! lol.

THANKS UNCLE STEVE ~ A very nostalgic organ recital ~ stirred many memories of Churches Ancient & Modern ! Love the POEM we all need a bit of Spiritual Revival in these days of Brexit uncertainty. The Younger one is the more gloomy the future looks ! I'll still be on MPS in 2070 (87 years Young !).

Blessings to You & Friend Fido
        Yours B & A πŸ’™πŸ§‘πŸ’™πŸ§‘πŸ’™
