In the blink of this eye

dear son there will come a day 

of this in my heart I pray, every moment-every day

 

that you will know that as I smile at you

and we will both feel it is true

 

i will from these daily trials, misfortunes and pain

from this toil and strife, no more suffer again

 

i will see the sands on Heavens shore

and in the blink of this eye will be at my Fathers door

 

as His hands reach out held up for me

all i will know and feel is He has set me free

 

free to love him even more, watch over you from there 

so watch for the signs that I still care

 

we will talk with words no more

but you will see that i am there with you even more

 

no longer burdened for a way to find

I will speak to you in those little voices in your mind

 

little words, a sign here and there to see

just waiting for that moment when you too will be free

 

so keep looking and I will send you all kinds of sign

cause your moms love will never fail with time

  • Comment from author about the poem: This was a poem my Mother and I worked on together just before Christmas of 2015. She was in a nursing home and not able to really communicate as well as we had in all of our life. This just about 18 months before she passed. I don't know how to tell anyone about this poem other than i lost it till very recently and found it in her bible to me. The words are my way of saying it for my mom.
