The Edge

Clara

I wonder what it would feel like
With my feet hanging off the edge
Looking down upon the slope
The waters lapping edge
To feel the fall
Life sliding through my fingers
Would I be weightless?
Would I fly?
For I need to find some kind of relief
My soul inside is breaking
Would the fall free my bonds
Tethered to this earth
Would I find myself among the surf
Unburdened and finally free
My body is betraying me
My heart inside it screams
I wonder how I'd be
If I fell from the edge
From this feeling that is plaguing me.

BRIAN here ~ GOOD EVENING CLARA ~ Welcome to MPS ! It is an interesting site with some interesting Poets. It works by reading & coomenting on each others POEMS ~ OK !
Thanks for your FIRST POEM 19 lines in free verse and an interesting SUBJECT ~ THE EDGE !
We all have EDGES in our lives. Sometimes for whatever reason ~ we want to *Stop the WORLD and get off* ! The easiest way is to find an edge and JUMP ! Thousand attempt suicide each Year ~ some suceed ~ most dont. Those that dont often end up adding injury to insult ~ SAD.
I once a had a Problem and I stood on the EDGE of a Railway Platform and thought of jumping in front of a TRAIN (certain DEATH) ~ but the moment passed. Im a Waterfall Climber (extreme sport !) and sliding down Natural Waterfalls is dangerous. When I visited Niagara Horseshoe Falls in Canada it looked so inviting just to jump in and go over ~ but statistically it is certain death ~ so (because I had no problems) I didnt ! Stay away from the EDGE !

    Blessings & Peace
    Yours BRIAN & ANGELA

      Hello Brian and Angela,

Thank you for reading my poem and sharing your story with me. It truly is a beautiful world we live in and I am grateful I've found this site to share and read the poems other people post.

I've no experience in poetry. I've never studied it but I've found it a way to deal with my emotions. I don't think too much, I just let the pen flow against the page. It's only when I read back that I notice the words are really dark. But, ultimately, I am away from 'The Edge', thankfully. Expressing myself in this way just helps me deal with my emotions.

Thank you for reading and commenting.

      Take care

Good expression. This reminds me of the song “jumper” by third eye blind. Human to wonder. Chin up. Feet planted. The tide will soon change. That’s inevitable. Blessings to you.

        Hello,

Thank you for reading! I just let my words flow when I write and sometimes what I find on the page surprises me.

I have not heard that song, I will have to listen. Sounds good 😉 haha

        Take care

We all have edges in our life but they are not worth falling off as life away from the edge is so wonderful. Walk away and go along the road of your life into the beauty of it.
        Welcome to MPS.

Thank you for reading and commenting. It means the world to me.

I've only started writing poetry. I've found it very helpful when dealing with life's inevitable journies. I don't think too much, just let the pen flow against the page. Sometimes I am surprised by what I find on the page.

The world is definitely beautiful and its a journey we all share for such a short amount of time. I am grateful for it.

          Take care

Very few actually fly.. many think they might … take my word for it... carry on writing.. it is much more rewarding and can give others pleasure too....
