The girl before I miss you
For you stood on solid ground
Your values were your anchor
Your faith in life renowned
One event came to pass
It was not scripted
It was not act
In one motion, my plans were set adrift and
I lost myself among the mist
Instead of rising like the phoenix
I crumbled through the earth
I embraced my sin
I turned my back
I miss the girl I was before
How can I get her back?

Because "Life is what happens to you when you are busy doing something else" (John Lennon).
Having principles which are untested is fine but we are human beings with frailty built into our very souls.... to err is human.... to live with the consequences becomes self knowledge, accepting self knowledge becomes love of what one is.... something worth striving for... we are all beautiful.
Thank you for your comment after reading my poem. I've read your comment a few times now before I replied. Allowing it to sink in. You're right of course, sometimes I just set myself impossible rigid standards.
Thank you again!

Its easy to believe we are to be fixed beings with fixed morals and place ourselves in boxes, truth is life is fluid.
Things aren't always broken they are just polished with a rough surface that makes them shine brighter than before 🙂
Hi G84,
Thank you for reading and commenting on my little poem. It means a lot.
I've read your comment a few times now, letting it sink in. It is easy to forget that we are human and to demand such high standards of ourselves. Writing these things down helps me take a step back and be a bit more forgiving and reflecting. Reading comments like this... That helps too!
Thanks again

Anytime, I’ve been to some dark places myself many years ago, and at times didn’t think I would ever be ‘normal’ until I realised that normal wasn’t really a thing I was just f***ing up relationships through my own stupidity but I wouldn’t change it if I had to go back because today I am a much better person for it. Keep pouring out those words and one day things will just start to click into place one tiny piece by one tiny piece. Have a fantastic day ☺️

Life can be hard sometimes, we all go through bad/sad moments in our life. Those moments can be overcome and when overcome become experience and those experiences will not come again so use them to go into a better life which is there for us all.
Good emotive write.
Thank you Goldfinch60. I always appreciate your comments.
