Two Friends.

Goldfinch60

I followed them back,

The two of them.

Been to get their newspaper,

As had I.

There they were chatting,

Chatting away like two old friends,

Totally relaxed in each other’s company.

It gave me hope,

Hope for the future,

That it will always remain this way,

And that the young boy will remain,

Remain relaxed,

In his father’s company,

And the father will remain,

Remain relaxed in his son’s.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I followed these two up the road, the boy must have been about ten or eleven and they were walking and talking together like two very good friends walking up to the pub for a pint. As for the video surely that is a happy family.

That is just how a Dad and his son show true closeness - - relaxed and happy to be together. A lovely read Andy.

Lovely piece Goldfinch. Reminded me how lucky i am to get along so well with my son and his family. May it always remain so.

Yes I too am lucky to be so close to my 'little boy' all six foot four of him. Him, his wife and their fifteen month daughter were with me for the Bank Holiday weekend and it was great.

        • ANGELA & BRIAN

ANGELA HERE ! We dont hear music quite like that in NZ ! Love the JAZZ / BLUE GRASS with vocals & the Lindy Hop ! All my faves - I cant wait to visit the Apalachians again in the FALL. BRIAN has a small UKE / BANJO he carries in the USA always a chance to sit in ! The Classical Guitar is too much for Banjo Pickers (He was taught Banjo by his Uncle Fred !). Love the story of the *Two Friends* made me BROODY. We trust that God will grant us a BOY (Daniel) for Brian to take to the Match and a GIRL (Esther) to come shopping with me ! Loretta Lynn was a Grandmother @ my AGE !

BLESSINGS & PEACE for You & Joyce
          Love ANGELA 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
