Words Of Worship

orchidee

Tune: St Denio

('Immortal, invisible, God only wise')

********

You, Lord, the true wise one, and Christ be your Son

We need spiritual understanding all

For things of God cannot by mere human lot

Be known, but discovered, by you uncovered

Reveal to us your ways through our earthly days

Your Spirit empower, reside every hour

In hearts meek and lowly, from sins now set free

By your Son's redemption, reaches to each one

Living in your light clear, pursuing things here

Which pleasing to you be, and hearts constantly

In tune with you Lord, keep us, we be your sheep

Good Shepherd ne'er us leave, in you we believe

Though you great, glorious, yet you tend to us

Our needs we to you bring, we worship and sing

Help us your salvation proclaim, each nation

Hear good news, the gospel, go forth, others tell

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 11.11.11.11. metre. When writing it, I broke it down into 6.5. each line, so it rhymes within each line, rather than at the end of each line. The original seems to rhyme within each line AND at the end of each line.

Thanks B&A. Yes, Fido can be fierce, like some Old Testament prophets, but they'll let him in!

Great one Steve, love the different rhyme scheme!

Thanks Christina. The hymn-writer did one better - rhyming within the lines, and at the end of the lines!
