IN LABORATORIES ~ A 2 12 Acrostic Sonnet !

ANGELA & BRIAN

ALL THE MAJOR BREAKTHROUGHS IN SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY ~

HAVE ORIGINATED IN THE MINDS OF SCIENTISTS & THEN ~

BEEN DEVELOPED IN LABORATORIES ~ AMEN !

I LOVE LABORATORIES ~ And I am .......

Never more pleased ~ than working in a LAB !

LADIES in White Coats ~ not coming to take me

Away !  But busy with Petri Dishes

Busy ~ sub-culturing Pathogenic and

Other deadly organisms !

Real hive of activity ~ looking for ........

A Cure for Cancer !  Dangerous places

To spend ones day in !  Fire ~ Explosions

Often ~ and ingestion of CHEMICALS .......

Really so deadly !  I am often asked

If I know any OLD SCIENTISTS ~ NO !

Early demise is our lot ! We all live .......

So dangerously ~ but so near to HEAVEN !

This POEM is presented as a BLANK VERSE 2 - 12 Acrostic Sonnet !

Thanks for visiting ~ comments welcome ~ Love BRIAN  ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™

You have to appreciate that many Pioneering Scientists & Technologists

have suffered severe accidents and death in the course of their Practical

work. Both Marie & Pierre Curie died from Radiation Sickness !

Working in LABS ~ especially School Labs ~ should be made as

SAFE as POSSIBLE ~ without taking all the thrills & spills out of

Practical Science. I started working in Proper Labs when I was 10

at GRAMMAR SCHOOL and I was HOOKED. Ive has the odd accident

but Im still alive and Angela thinks Im still Good Looking & virile !

At College I have  installed a state of the Art ~ Microbiology Lab

for the Catering & Beauty Therapy Students and especially for the

students on the New Pathology Lab Technicians Course. We have

Appointed a Lecturer in Microbiology and a Technician and it has

now run very successfully and *accident free* for one year ~ AMEN !

Oohh, I'm gonna be a scientist then, if you're still looking good and โ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆ. swoon! Woof! Fido won't let me say the word. Absolutely nothing 'exciting' he says! heehee.

Oooops UNCLE STEVE ~ Ive replied with a Comment ~ please check ~ BRIAN !

    • ANGELA & BRIAN

Thanks UNCLE STEVE ~ Free morning this morning as I have an Evening Class ~ Food Hygeine ! Pleased you liked the presentation ~ good video ? I suffer with my CHEST due to inhaling too many Chemicals etc ~ always a Price to pay ! For me Labs are always exciting but School Chemistry is now restricted due to too many H & S regulations and the kids all look like ALIENS in their Hairnets - Rubber Gloves - White Coats & Goggles great for Halloween ! However being a responsible adult (now 36 !) I am very safety conscious and follow the rules. Labs are LOVELY but can be LETHAL !

Blessings & JOY to you and your Censurious Cur !

Students/apprentices traininng in laboratories dont know how lucky they are.... once out in the real world it all has to be done 'on site' thats when they really start to learn how to work safely.
It's what i do out there in the real world.

Thanks DA ~ In my book - Science is the QUEEN of SUBJECTS and the LABS are her Palaces. We teach SAFETY form the first day and UK Comprehensives all provide Lab Coats & Goggles - Fire extinguishers & blankets and eye & body wash facilities and the Ubiquitous Fume Cupboard. Always SAFETY FIRST ! Labs no longer smell the same now that the Kipps Apparatus (for H2S) has been assigned to the Science Museum ! Are YOU a Scientist / Engineer?

        Blessings to you & Yours

Always interesting to read the lab rules....i didn't know they actually had to instruct you not to eat or drink the chemicals!! Great write!! It is so cool that you got to be a part of putting in a microbiology lab. I do remember that was my favorite course in my prerequisites in becoming a nurse!

        • ANGELA & BRIAN

HOLA CHRISTINA ~ BRAIN AQUI ! Thanks for your interesting comment ! We start Science in Primary School and of course Primaries are always interested in what things smell & tatste like ! We have to remember that all foods (sugar ~ apples ~ water ~ milk etc) are all CHEMICALS and they are used to eating & drinking them ! Also all kids are inquisitive ! Microbiology is a key to hygeine and food poisoning and infection etc ~ so a dedicated Microbiology Lab and Qualified Staff is important in a Applied Science Department. All Medical Staff should be Microbe Conscious. We do of course use the Lab with our Prenursing Students !

Blessings & Peace to You & Yours
          Muchos Abrazos y Besos a todos !

Having worked as an analytical chemist I know the dangers but I survived and now being retired I can look back at my life with wonder at how good it was and now is in spite of the obstacles.
          LIFE IS GOOD!

AMEN ANDY ~ BRIAN here ! I have always found working a LAB to be a great pleasure ! Cgemists are a gregarious bunch and there is always something going on ! One Industril Lab I was in we had a Welshman joined the Team and he formed a Choir and we sed to sing G & S ~ in the Lab ~ as it had great acoustics ! There are always obstacles ANDY ~ it is how we overcome them that proves our worth. Pleased you are counting your Blessings ! Thnaks for your comment !

Blessings & Peace to You & Joyce
