Tune: Golden Sheaves
('To thee, O Lord, our hearts we raise')
Psalm 65 v.6-13
********
By your strength, LORD, you establish
Steadfast the mountains, sure this
And hill and vale and tree and flower
You sustain by rain, shower
And sunlight bright, its golden beam
Shines, your creation does teem
With life abundant, by your hand
All is made, earth, sky, sea, land
The noise of seas you still, bring calm
Protecting us from their harm
Not passing borders you appoint
All ordered, there no disjoint
And tumult of people you quell
Bringing your peace, all be well
Each day and night you make rejoice
You created them, your choice
The earth you visit, and you do
Water, enrich it anew
With the river of God, greatly
Your blessings upon it be
This river be of water full
For it on earth you do call
To revive, refresh, grain does grow
As you provide for it so
Blessed be the rain, shower needed
What we asked you have heeded
At the Rogation* 'asking-tide'
Our prayers you have not denied
The year you crown with your goodness
With your good signs you us bless
You cause the land to prosper thus
Giving harvests unto us
The pastures they be clothed with sheep
And cattle too, you them keep
The valleys covered o'er with grain
They be, as here once again
We pray we your resources use
Wisely, none of them refuse
And share with fellow-man, that we
Good stewards of your grace be

*Rogation-tide - around May each year; the three days before Ascension Day;
traditionally an asking time for the Harvest; from the Latin: 'rogare' - to ask.

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.7.8.7 .8.7.8.7. metre. A view of Evesham at 00:45 (Goldfinch). The hymn starts at 2:00 and ends at 4:15. A bit of waffling either side of it! Is that Fido at 3:52, keeping a check on things - or having a nap?

Good write but that last stanza appears to not mean much to many in our current way of the world.
Thanks Gold. Did you spot Fido? Or a Fido?!
Good Morning UNCLE STEVE ~ My DAD loves the Archers and listens to it every week ! He wouldnt know a COW for a COUGER (til the latter bit Him !) Loved the VIDEO ! Your POEM reminds us that GOD is both IMMANENT in the UNIVERSE as well as TRASCENDENT ! For 50% of the Earths Population (3.25 billion !) the last verse reflects their Daily Lives (my Neice & her Husband are working in LESOTHO for the next three weeks !). It is us URBANITES who miss out on the Blessings fo each of GODS SEASONS. Reversing URBANISATION is one effective way of halting Global Warming ~ lets ALL Escape to the Country
Blessings & Joy to You & Funny Fido !
Love B & A ๐๐งก๐๐งก๐
Thanks B&A. Fido was in church too - see a Fido in the clip?
