Not so perfect, dinner for one

Alta H Haffner

A well thought out evening
A luxury lavender soak
I lay back and inhale
relaxed and happy

I get dressed
silky stockings of course
revealing dress
black pointy heels

I do this for me
This is who I am
I embrace all things
silky and sexy

My favorite cozy spot
A cider and pizza ordered
I sit back and take in this moment
I reflect...

"Perfect" Ed Sheeran
a slice of pizza
and tears
sipping my liquid comfort

Asking for the bill
I am sobbing
you are not here
I am alone

The one who used to call me
his perfect love
has left me all alone
dinner for one was not part of the plan.

Dinner for one can be so sad.

    • Alta H Haffner

Oh, it is dreadful at times, other times I love the time alone...

Ooohh, just give us a call, and I'll pop round! Then you won't be alone. I might swoon though, if you're 'silky and sexy'! lol.

Ha Ha...love your response to this.

Firmly entrenched as a singleton now mealtimes are no occasion at all.
The ceremony of high dining would be enjoyable no doubt but looking at the long game.... is it ever worth it..... a step in the direction of eventually finding out t hey weren't the one anyway. (me in pessimistic mode)

Oh, yes absolutely...it is the better side of things.

Oh - sighs after reading these words dear Alta. -A tale so well told and if from experience a heart-rending account as well.

Better to dine alone, Ally, than dine with the devil.

          Ex animo, Alan

No one aint not gonna like this... I know I do..

What I find most sad in this poem is how that self-assured, relaxed and happy, silky and sexy woman turns into a teary and lonely creature. Well written Alta.
