('Glorious things of thee are spoken')

1 Timothy 2 v.1-6

Pray for all, the exhortation

People, folk of each nation

Supplications, prayers of all kinds

From inspired hearts and minds

Intercessions, and thanksgivings

To the Lord each one prayer brings

For kings, queens, all authority

And for the powers that be

 

So that we may lead such a life

Quiet, peaceable, no strife

In all godliness, honesty

Forgiven, from sins set free

For this good, acceptable

Such  shall prosper, shall not fall

For pleasing it is in the sight

Of God our Saviour, true, right

 

He will have all people be saved

Through Christ He the way has paved

Desiring them to have knowledge

Of the truth and faith, courage

To accept Him, mediator

His name it be Christ for sure

Between God and man the way makes

our place on the cross He takes

 

He did give Himself a ransom

Avails for all, not just some

To be testified or spoken

To all children, women, men

In due time, we pray His kingdom

Come, and that His will be done

Lord, incline your ears to hear all

That in truth do on you call
