Omnipotent One

Tune: Sandys

('Teach me, my God and King')

Psalm 135 v.1-6

*********

Praise the LORD, praise His name

Give to Him honour, fame

You servants of His by His grace

By faith behold His face

You in the LORD's courts praise

To Him joyful songs raise

Praise the LORD, for it is good sure

And pleasant evermore

He has Israel chosen

To be His people, men

Women and children, His treasure

Melodies to Him stir

Whatsoever the LORD

According to His word

Was pleased to do, above, below

That He did do, we know

Whether heaven, earth, seas

Yes, with what Him agrees

That He does do, He LORD of all

And we may on Him call

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 6.6.8.6. metre. I don't think the original hymn has the 'Midas Touch' idea: 'turning everything to gold'. Not in a worldly sense, or we might like a magic wand that does that!

    Hmmm, are you sure?

Thanks Gold. Well, yes - somehow. Hope I'm not just using words like Omni...โ€ฆ.because I like the sound of the long words! But not in an arbitrary way. Yet, if He pleases, for 'good' or seemingly for 'bad', the Psalm seems to say no human can change it (stanza 4).
Meanwhile, flippantly - why did He not stop me saying those fateful words in 1066?!

BRIAN HERE ~ Thanks for the uplift for Saturday ! Love the hymn (Spiritual Gold I guess NOT the Chemical Element Au) and the POSITIVE Praise Tone of Psalm 135 !

Despite the depressing conditions of our WORLD
Let us take time to Praise the LORD

Blessing & Joy to You & Fussy Fido !
Love in Spirit BRIAN & ANGELA
