Rapturous Return

orchidee

Tune: Cwm Rhondda

('Guide me, O thou great Redeemer/Jehovah')

1 Thessalonians 4 v.15 - 5 v.6 parts

********

The day of the Lord, His return

We look for it, for it yearn

Turn our hearts Lord to you, while still

We have choice and we have will

Then all dead in Christ shall rise first

All rejoice then, praise outburst

Praise outburst!

All rejoice then, praise outburst

For the Lord Himself shall descend

Fulfil His kingdom, no end

Descend from heaven with a shout

It be His return, no doubt

And with voice of the archangel

And loud trumpet of God's call

Of God's call!

And loud trumpet of God's call

Then we who are alive, remain

On this earth, shall see again

Our loved ones, for we shall be caught

Up with them, all Christ's blood-bought

Meeting with them in the clouds high

Meeting with the Lord e'er nigh

Lord e'er nigh!

Meeting with the Lord e'er nigh

So for ever blessed eternal

Ever with the Lord, and all

Who are in Christ, so great comfort

This our glad portion, our lot

On with patience, perseverance

'Til that day dawns on us hence

On us hence!

'Til that day dawns on us hence

Living now as children of light

Do that pleasing in God's sight

We are not of night or darkness

But are of God's light, no less

Watching, waiting, hoping, praying

Ever joyful, praises ring

Praises ring!

Ever joyful, praises ring

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.7.8.7.8.7. metre. What do you think? Change round verses 4 and 5, or leave as they are? Verse 4 at present seems like a sort of finale.

Hi orchi. I think changing round the last two verses has the edge (for me).
Wait and see what anyone else thinks. After all, that's the idea of comments.

    Kind regards, Alan

Thanks for sharing Uncle Steve ~ We love CWM RHONDDA best sung in WELSH at the SUMMIT after ascending Y WYDDFA (Mount Snowden) Takes 2-3 hours to climb ! As BILLY GRAHAM said in answer to a newspaper about the Second Coming *It is not IF but WHEN !* All the signs (including BREXIT !) indicate it wont be long !

When HE shall come ~ Resplendent in His Glory
To take us HOME what JOY shall then be OURS

As far as I am concerned, no changes necessary. But then, what do I know?
