Searching

Jenny Wren

This night is safe you know, I know,

I have to leave you, have to go.

On a journey all alone,

To find my soul: where has it gone?

The moon is full, she watches me,

And keeps me safe to wander free.

Blessed be my guiding star,

That shows the way both near and far.

To help me find where I have to gone,

And bring me where I do belong.

Where is that? I do not know,

I have to leave, I have to go.

Will I know when I am found?

Of course I will, it’s on the ground.

But also in the sky and sea,

Far away, but near to me.

How will I know when I am here?

I’ll hear my voice that guides me near.

Whispering on the floating breeze,

Through the grass and in the trees.

Until it reaches me again,

At what time? I know not when.

But it will be when it is dark;

The only sound: my beating heart.

I’ll find my soul in that place,

Within that safe and sacred space.

It was always there, I just couldn’t see,

It was always there inside of me.

Great poem, Jenny. We all search for that special place only to realize it was within us all the time.

Good write, all we need to do is look inside ourselves to find the real me.
