deeper than a mirror

Crystal Hope

she looked at herself in the mirror,
but not appearance, her self in whole.
wondering where this girl has gone
who used to have a happy soul.

her stumbled fingers touched her cheek,
she widened her taupe eyes out big
trying to reach deep inside
to find herself and dig.

i lost myself, down in an abandoned hole,
and the shovel was thrown away.
no rescue for me, no safety to find,
all i can do is pray.

i cared for too long and too much
now leaving me rooted and rotted to bone.
I guess I lost myself caring for everyone
who just left me forsaken and alone.

she lifted up her head to look at herself
and smiled realizing she wasn't a mistake.
no matter how long she was lost,
she know the paths to take.

Well written, Crystal. We all are lost sometimes, but there is always that light at the end of the tunnel!

Wonderful emotive poem Crystal. You know which path to take though just look through the mirror and the light to that path will shine for you.
