Tuned in, Turned off

LMo

Everywhere I look, I see

People just as lost as me,

Tuned in to TV, tuned into phones

Strangers to the loved in their own homes.

What are we looking at,

What do we see?

People more important than we?

Tuned in, turned off,

Nothing good enough (ever),

Nothing that holds attention

Desires, wants, NEEDS - too many to mention!

I can't keep track (of my spending, the next big thing)

I can't decide - too many things - keep me fired up,

to the possibility of what I might have if I change:

Change contract,

Change my style,

Change my face,

Change my partner

Sooooo much choice but it's just an illusion,

A digital revolution (we are hooked) -

That is dirty, disgusting but has me lusting;

after that dress, that face, that job -

a race - a race to win (what?)

but I can't stop

Flippin through channels, media (whatever)

Too bored

Tuned in, Turned off.

Very well said, LMorgan! How did we ever live bsp (before smart phones)?

Very good write and so true. In this day and age many just look at screens, looking up from them and seeing the real world and talking with real people is the way to be.
