Little scars on autumn trees

Andrew Charles Forrest

Little scars on autumn trees

We carry around with us, little scars

To remind us who we really are

Our emotions are locked away frightened to free them

For we don’t want anyone outside to see them

Tears are feelings in liquid form

Distorted aborted expressions of norm

The emptiness left when a loved one leaves

Is walking in parks full of autumn trees

  • Comment from author about the poem: The feeling behind this is that everyone who touches our life leaves a little scar. Some much deeper than others of course and they can all be seen and felt on those of us who make it to be leafless trees in parks... Thanks for the read

Fascinating equation of fallen leaves to dear departed, autumn to age. Loved it.
