He stood there,
His long hair hanging around his face,
His beard laying upon his breast.
A long white robe covered him,
Hanging from his shoulders
To the ground.
He professed that love meant all,
Love for everybody.
It was in his soul,
It was in his words.
Those who believe
Say he was the son of god,
But to my new found focus
He was not,
To me he was
The First Hippie,
Bringing love,
Not war,
To all.

- Comment from author about the poem: I have often looked upon Jesus as a hippie, especially now that my belief in Christianity and other religions has freed me to be myself. Make love, Not war.

Ah, the unorhadox point of view against 'The First Hippie'. Jesus would have been very proud smoking a joint on a daily basis from birth to his death. Hung upon his cross singing 'Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life'. to believe or not to believe now that is the question. Your message is very clear in your well described poem...
Thank you Kevin, my belief has gone form Christianity (and all forms of organised religion) due to the failure of it in helping my wife who has sung and believed in Christ for all her life.
Hmm, not sure I would agree here with all of this Gold. Yes, loving God and loving one another, as He said.
I realise that Orchi, but the person you believe in has failed Joyce!
I can understand Gold. What would I do if in your place, I wonder?
That an angle Andy
You could be on to something
In the words of John Lennon "You may say I'm a dreamer... But I'm not the only one"
Great write have a great weekend
Thank you Andrew, yes John Lennon's words are very meaningful.
not only a hippie, but a Buddhist hippie, preaching non- violence, peace and love towards all.
So very true Suresh.
Andy,
I’m all for...
“Bringing love,
Not war,
To all.”
Amen to that!!!
Have a wonderful weekend!
My love to Joyce and to you.

Thank you Laura, you are most kind.
Andy.
You’re welcome!
Hi Goldfinch60,
What an awesome write. Very good.
Something tells me in your younger days you were a very cool dude but I am sure you still are!
Keep writing FineB
Thank you FineB.
"Cool Dude eh?" I like that. Back in the day I was there with long hair and beard in my light grey suit with bell-bottom trousers, white platform shoes and of course a kipper tie smoking Gauloise.
