She is Not There.

Goldfinch60

I wander round the house,

Wander like a lost sheep,

She is not there.

I am not lonely in the house,

So much to do and enjoy,

But she is not there.

I meet with friends for coffee,

Talking meaningfully,

But she is not there.

I cook my meals each day,

Enjoy their wonderful flavours,

But she is not there.

I go and see her regularly,

In the home where she lives,

But she is not there.

She sits there at the table,

The staff caring for her,

But she is not there.

Every time I visit her

She is there in body,

But in her mind

She is not there.

  • Fay Slimm.

Such a moving read dear Andy - - she will never leave the place in your heart where she lives in true love.

    • Goldfinch60

Thank you Fay, yes that love will never leave me.

This really reached deep into me and i feel for your loss.
Only your innate positivity is going to see you through this which thankfully is very strong in you.

      • Goldfinch60

Thank you d a, yes I will see it through but that love will never die.

      • FredPeyer

She may not be there, Goldie, but every line in your poem shows that the love is there. And in the end, that is all that matters!

        • Goldfinch60

That love will always be there Fred. Thank you.

          • ANGELA & BRIAN

ANGELA HERE - Thanks UNCLE ANDY for a great SONG - by a Great SINGER and a great TRIBUTE to MLK. Thanks for sharing with us the great void in your life 24/7 due the fact that your beloved wife JOYCE - although present in the BODY - due to ALZHEIMERS - SHE is in essence not THERE ! I have some experience of Couples on my Home visit list for PHYSIO and it is very very tragic. The person they knew & loved for all their married life has disappeared. One can only comfort them and PRAY with them to reduce the heartache ! You are in all our thought and PRAYERS - AMEN

Blessings & Peace to YOU & JOYCE
            Love ANGELA & BRIAN

              Thank you Angela.

Joyce does not have Alzheimers Disease, she has vascular dementia and her brain is being closed down in stages. If it was Alzheimers there would be hope as it is a disease and diseases can be cured but there is no cure for what she has.

              • ANGELA & BRIAN

Thanks for the correction UNCLE ANDY ~ You had mentioned that before. It is more tragic ~ when there is NO cure. I deal with PEOPLE with incurable terminal CANCER when I visit the Hospice to give Clinical Aromatherapy ! It eases the PAIN but does not CURE the condition. Im a Professional so I shouldnt cry ~ but sometimes I do ! Please check BRIANS POEM today *THE BLEAK TREE* it is very beautiful !

Blessings & Peace to YOU & YOUR BELOVED JOYCE
