SEVENS RULES OF ENGLISH HAIKU

The rules are fluid and there are several versions

ANGELA & I are consistent and always use these SEVEN !

1.  Three lines totalling 17 syllables

2.  Line structure ~ 5 7 5 syllables

3.  Punctuation is arbitrary

4.  Rhyming is arbitrary

5.  A HAIKU can include repetition of words

6.  The last line usually makes an observation about the SUBJECT

7.  HAIKU should be about NATURE

If the same form but about other SUBJECTS ~ We call them SENRYU !

We use same rules when we post HAIKU in other European Tongues.

We acknowledge that there are some HAIKU experts on MPS !

Im just stating the RULES Angela & I follow ! Love A & B ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿงก

A fine write A&B. I saw a huge bunny jumping around in a pet shop. I thought it was a cuddly toy, until it moved! Almost as big as a cat. And guinea pigs too - they breed in 9 weeks, and have about 4 or 5 babies. Help! Ours are in separate cages, as Fido does not allow any 'ardour'!

Thanks UNCLE STEVE ~ very droll ! COCHON D\'INDE are very like RABBITS ~ if cocaged they cohabit and before you know you have 20+ In PERU they run round the floor (in the houses) and are killed (humanely) skinned and served in PIES & STEWS etc ! Very tasty just like RABBIT ! I always presumed FIDO is a Male ~ in SPAIN we call a BITCH ~ FIDA ! You should introduce FIDO to FIDA then with EIGHT PUPPIES to care for he would have his very own PROBLEMS and be MUCH MUCH less SENSORIOUS & KILLJOY !

Blessings & Peace for YOU & Frustrated
Fido ~ HE needs a FIDA for Christmas !

Oh no! Bit I've heard they eat them in Peru. Fido wants no unnecessary ardour. It's only cos he tries to keep me from swooning! heehee. But what of it is 'unnecessary'?

THANKS *0UT* Thanks again for your comment ! I have to remind you again the space in the UK is limited (per person) we only have 12% per capita compared with 100% in the USA ~ You have 8 times more in the USA. We like to have a Garden and we are one of the most HUMANE COUNTRIES in the World and we have an RSPCA ROYAL Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals ! We love our Cats & Dogs and provide them with SPACE. With a Rabbit the type of HUTCH I have illustrated is adequate. FISH have PONDS & AQUARIA ! WE dont agree with keeping BIRDS in cages so we provide outdoor BIRD FEEDERS & BIRD BATHS etc they are Wild and free to come & go ! We get more than 20 species of Birds in our Parents Gardens. We provide log piles for insects and snails etc and food & water for FOXES & HEDGE HOGS & RATS & MICE etc. WE ALL LOVE ALL ANIMALS ~ AMEN The UK is the best place for HORSES or all BREEDS to LIVE ~ AMEN !

True haiku are about nature - are pets nature or just captives by homo sapiens.
Senryu are specifically about emotion, if I write 5-7-5s about other things I call them by a made up name like Goldiku.
