The Dance Goes On (Elegy #4 for Paul)

Andrew Charles Forrest

The Dance Goes On...

I can’t believe it’s been two years

That you’re not around but I’m still here

Some say we lived three lives and so

In a way we both deserved to go

I pray each day for my fourth chance

To hold the hands I love and dance

I think often of the time we had

Pushing the boundaries on the edge of bad

Thank you Paul for being my friend

I hope you feel the love I send you

Your light will always shine on me

The dance goes on, eternally...

  • Comment from author about the poem: Can I just say how wonderful it is to be able to say I loved this man without it being taken the wrong way. We laughed and cried together in equal measure, we knew the worst about each other and we were still the best of friends to the end
