Prosperous Prophecy

orchidee

Tune: Antioch

('Joy to the world')

Luke 1 v.76 - 79

*********

Zacharias, his prophecy

At birth of his son be

He John the Baptist, the prophet

Of the Highest, task fit

Of the Highest, task fit

Of the, of the Highest, task fit

For he shall go before the face

Of the Lord, even pace

To prepare His way, salvation's

Knowledge give all nations

Knowledge give all nations

Knowledge, knowledge give all nations

To show to people how they may

Know unto God the way

'Tis by knowing salvation through

Jesu's works make us new

Jesu's works make us new

Jesu's, Jesu's works make us new

Forgiveness of sins, through mercy

Tender of God it be

Whereby the Dayspring from on high

The Dawn, Messiah nigh

The Dawn, Messiah nigh

The Dawn, The Dawn, Messiah nigh

To give light to them sat in dark

And shadow of death, hark

He shall guide our feet, [in] path of peace

He Lord, His reign ne'er cease

He Lord, His reign  ne'er cease

He Lord, He Lord, His reign ne'er cease

  • Comment from author about the poem: A carol-poem in 8.6.8. 6.6.8. metre, allowing for some 'longer notes'. Here's a rip-roaring version of it in the clip! But I don't think it spoils the original.

Well that woke me up! At church today we have "The Band" luckily the choir can drown them out sometimes. It depends if the lead guitar turns his amp up, or finds out that I have unplugged it !!

Thanks B&A. Yes, yet Jesus adds: 'He/She who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he'. That's little old you and me - or whoever is/are the least!

Hi B&A. If not a useless piece of info from me! - I've edited this now, only to delete one of the 'repeat' lines of each verse. there were too many. I unusually spent ages on this one, getting the right metre!
