Salvation Seeking

Tune: Little Cornard

('Hills of the north, rejoice')

Psalm 22 v.25-28

*********

My praise shall be of you

Holy Lord God and true

In great congregation

Among every nation

Hear the advent call, Christ's return

Come to Him and His ways discern

The meek shall eat and be

Satisfied fruitfully

They shall praise the LORD who

Seek Him, [their] intent to do

Their heart shall live for evermore

Truusting in His promises sure

All ends of the world shall

Remember wise, and tell

Of Christ, His sacrifice

Offering did suffice

To bring salvation unto all

Who in faith believe, on Him call

They shall to the LORD turn

Of His purposes learn

And shall Him all worship

Showing by deed and lip (spoken words)

That His is the kingdom, he reigns

nations governed as He ordains

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 6.6.6.6.8.8. metre. I have adapted some words to bring in the theme of Advent. The Psalm tells of Christ's sufferings, and the outcome of salvation for all. This is where I have picked up these verses for this poem, near the end of the original Psalm.

Thanks Gold. You singing it that fast, as in the clip?!

        • Goldfinch60

It is a bit fast but I am sure we could manage it once we in the choir struggled off our chairs.

Didn't someone (you?) say it was the speed it should be sung at? Have to sing each verse all in one breath. They're going about 200 mph!
