Tune: O Waly Waly
('An upper room did our Lord prepare')
*******
Gathered there in upper room they met
For to remember, ne'er forget
Sharing of Communion, bread and wine
Meeting with Christ, the Son divine
He at His passion wept, toiled and died
But none could take His part beside
To be our Saviour, to take our place
For all of any age, each race
In His scourging, stripes cut flesh, He bled
Though now arisen, once was dead
By His stripes we are healed, unconcealed
His broken body there revealed
He rich, though for our sakes became poor
That we might share His treasure store
Battered and bruised, spat upon, defiled
He sinless, us has reconciled
For see your sins there upon Him laid
As lamb to slaughter, price He paid
Man of Sorrows, yet now joy lasting
'Tis all fruit of His offering
We know not all, why pains, sufferings be
But may view Christ upon the tree (the cross)
Loving, He saves, gives His life that we
Redeemed eternally may be

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 9.8.9.8. metre. I felt to write this, with the often question asked: 'Why suffering?' in its different shapes and forms.

Good Evening ~ Uncle Steve ~ Great Hymn ~ Great Poem ! It is interesting to BIBLE STUDENTS that what started out as a JEWISH PASSOVER FEAST ~ Concluded as the FIRST CHRISTIAN COMUNION SERVICE. The transition from the OLD COVENANT (Judaism) to the NEW (Christianity) was not easy and is detailed in the BOOK of ACTS & The NT Epistles. One of the Chief Opponents of the TRANSITION was the Rabbi Saul who was later Converted and became the Apostle Paul and wrote over Half of the NT and laid the foundation of NT Theology in his EPISTLES ! The EUCHARIST (Thanksgiving Sevice) ~ Communion Service ~ is the Chief Remembrance Servic of the Chritian Church and is celebrated somewhere in the World every day and is a Unifying Concept of nearly all Christian Churches. It Looks back to Calvary ~ around to The Church (The Body of Christ) and forward to HIS COMING ! Wherever we are in the World ~ on a Sunday~ BRIAN & I atend a COMMUNION SERVICE ~ there is no Language Barriar because it is HANDS-ON. We are always made welcome and allowed to PARTICIPATE ~ AMEN
Blessings to YOU & YOUR Holy Hound

Thanks B&A. Yes, some churches have Communion Service every week. One church I know, a good one, but disappointing as they only have it monthly, and then sometimes it seems 'tacked on', or held at the beginning of the service to get it 'out of the way'. Oh, they hardly know what an actual 'hymn' is! Doh!
Good one Orchi.
Thanks Gold.
