Folly

Fay Slimm.

Folly.

War when long and drawn out throws its challenge
of thorns to fighters
caught up in sharing foes, folly's wounds cry
for finish to rights.

Men start to forget who spilt first blood, who began
the shooting of hate
into guiltless bodies when filled with terror
not of their making.

Rage, no longer understood sees it insane for death
to stain earth endlessly
so brotherhood rises in love-parched hearts
desiring to mend.

When life is read rightly eyes melt in pity and cool
iron once smoking-hot,
teeth chatter no more in fear as hands raise
flags for battle to stop.

Celled in the same grief death readily calls
for opposing despoilers to cease from war.

The earth is hushed, A silent chill,
Serene and blushed ~ calm and still.
When nought is heard and nought is said,
No more wars for we're all dead.

      Ex animo, Alan

      • Fay Slimm.

          Very relevant today.

            • ANGELA & BRIAN

Good Evening FAY - Brian & I are both pacifists becaus in our own Extended Families we can trace the Agony & Ecstasy & Price of WAR ! Donald Trump ordered the assasnation of ONE MAN - An Iranian General ! 56 Iranian Civilians died in the Funeral Stampede & 176 in the Ukranian Plane - 52 Canadians & 4 Brits = 232 for ONE MAN - thats how WAR eascalate. If there is not a TRUCE then thousands more will die !
Your very elegany POEM discusses the Development of War ! V1 It starts V2 It escalates V3 It outstrips its cause V4 It ceases ! Love the final doublet :

Called in the same grief - DEATH readily calls
For opposing despoilers - to cease from WAR - AMEN !

When will they ever LEARN - When will they ever LEARN ?
              Blessing & Peace & Joy
              Love ANGELA & BRIAN
