I must apologise for not commenting on many poems at the moment but I am very busy sorting out things for my wife's funeral which is next week. Normal Service will be resumed before long.
I look in the mirror
And the person I see is changing.
I can hear a new person when I laugh,
Such a distinctive sound
That I have always known.
The mannerisms that I have
I have known them as well.
So not only has my love for music,
And for nature,
Come from this person,
I am changing into him,
I am becoming my Dad.
A man I had always admired.
A gentle man,
And a gentleman.
No longer with us,
This man who went from life
Over twenty years ago,
Is now resurrected in me.
Thank you Dad.
I will join you soon,
And together we can sit and listen
To, and with our heroes of music.

- Comment from author about the poem: The video from The Mikado shows the song Three Little Maids from school. At the boys grammar school where my father (and I) went he was in in the schools opera company and he played Yum Yum. He also played Patience in the G and S operetta of that name. (When I was at school I did not sing but I played violin in the school orchestra).

A sensitive write Gold
Which one of us became which in 1066 - William or Harold or the guy that said 'Look up, Sire'?!
Thanks Orchi
Hello Goldfinch60,
Sometimes when our parents are alive we can clash with them wanting to distinguish ourselves from them.
However, we are indeed a mirror image of them as we get older in the end.
A very good write Goldfinch.
I wish you all the best with your wife's forthcoming funeral.
Keep writing FineB
Thank you FineB. My father and I always got on well and his love of music was inherited by both my brother and myself.
