Tune: Rivaulx
('Father of heaven, whose love profound')
2 Timothy 2 v.20-23
********
We are as great houses, each see
Vessels of the Spirit are we
Where God does inhabit, may we
So possess His treasures goodly
That found therein be silver, gold
But things of wood, clay, not be told
The silver, gold honourable
Be, so let us rid the dross all
So shall we be unto honour
To our master, so not defer
We to cast out the wood and clay
Sanctified, follow Christ he Way
And so prepared to good works we
Ready at he Lord's call we be
Fleeing youthful lusts, but follow
Christ, and more of His life here show
Pursuing righteousness, faith too
Love, peace, along with all that do
Call on the Lord from a pure heart
WE also serve a useful part
But foolish and unlearned questions
Avoid as God's true daughters, sons
Knowing they strifes do generate
Leading to an unwholesome state
