Merciless hands held her frail heart,
which beat like a desolate drum,
bleeding out her last remnants of goodwill.
Forsaken by all those she held dear,
her ruptured soul gladly welcomed in the dark,
as she drew out her final tear.
And as it journeyed down her sullen face.
It left behind all that once had nourished her faith.
Etching grim reminders of her pains,
that fought to set the darkness in her veins.
She, who had only ever wished to see the light,
now gave herself up to the night.
The dank cold air felt like a newfound friend,
as she laid to rest the girl whose dreams would end.

Beautiful... I felt this one in my dark bones
Thank you ever so much. I have too many dark bones I feel
I think some days that’s all I have...
Sadly I can empathise. I wish my bones would soften slightly and I could see the world in a lighter, brighter way. But alas I always end up sat in the shadows feeling somewhat bitter with life. It's no doubt reflected in my pieces
I always connect to your pieces
Thank you so much, I wish I had time to write more. I enjoy your writings also. You share that dark side it is sad to say. But you write about it beautifully
Thank you
Such a lovely but sad poem. I can reflect on this poem. Life has taught me to never give up, always hold on, for it always seems the darkest, just before the dawn.
Thanks, Mil57Man for taking the time to read and comment on my poem today. I do hope that dawn you speak of comes soon. Thank you for your kind words
As you portray, sometimes it's easier to live in the night. Where one's darkness is not out of place.
Indeed, though I think all of us have darkness in us. It's finding a balance of dark and light. I don't believe one can exist without the other.
Many thanks for your comment
Wonderful write, even at the end of her dreams she will see the light and rise like a Phoenix from the ashes.

Let's hope so Andy, thank you for reading and for your positive feedback

Wow... Many times my dreams felt like this, strangest thing is it can bring one's you could never imagine.
This reminds of a song called "you can't rush your healing" by Trevor Hall, inside all our darkness is a gift for each to find. Good luck on your journey, remember many have left music for us to find out own.
Thank you for sharing
Keep up the write!
Thanks, Dan I am going to check that song out on youtube, most appreciative of your feedback, glad this piece spoke to you
All the best
