Resolutions.
Time moves on remorseless yet fresh starts
appear plausible
if with parched discord
we form opportunities from which to carve.
Clearer choices for cutting free expand lone
coaster-rides but tried
ways of surprise
adroitly harness colour into bland unknown.
Distress creates apathy while unrestrained
euphoria decrees
time for growing new wings
and chances to better breed later decades.
Truncated all wistful dreams must retreat
dry to crisps yet can re-form
and freshly adorned with made
resolutions avoid further stressful defeat.
Hope succeeds if, skilled in competence
we alone apply learning
curves and hear the unheard
as disposing of old requires no audience.
Pushing ahead, scything new paths again
exalts over former
raw-angst attempts to alter
past failures if wearing our skin unafraid.

You sure have this poetry lark off to a fine art my friend and pon my word, a philosopher too.....
Yes.. be yourself is sound advice..... N
Ha - - what an immediate and unexpected first comment - just as I was altering the penultimate verse ........... but hey grateful thanks Nev for my posh-sounding new title - ( me no philosopher though - - just throwing out motley ideas for discussion I hope )
The ultimate test we call life. live and learn for we have one time to get it right. When you feel you can no longer stand. You can always reach out and tag Heavenly Hands. Beautiful poem Fay Slimm.
So true that we all get just one life to get it right albeit with help as you say......... thanking you so much my friend for your lovely comment on Resolutions.
Do you know, after reading this piece, i'm getting all enthusiastic. If only that damned wind would stop blowing i'd be out there repairing my fences and building the shed that needs to be built.
Yep, you've done it.... got me all rowsted up and ready to go....
....... but it's raining now as well.
Do you know I am delighted that my few words gave you the wish to build that new shed - glad too that Resolutions roused you to do it when this dreadful wind and rain ends - thank you D.A. for all your support for my efforts at poetry.
I read this a few times and it got better each time I read it. To not be afraid to make changes. To accept mistakes are lessons to help us achieve better things. But to grasp change and not stall it. To make life itβs greatest adventure
Wonderful poem
Grateful thanks D.B. for those times spent in reading Resolutions and getting the message it tried to portray - that we grasp change and try not to stall it.........and I love your final point in this encouraging comment - "To make life itβs greatest adventure"
Aah Fay, that final comment was born from your inspiring write

I never knew there was so much (verbosely) to making resolutions! heehee.
In our life we learn from our experiences both good and bad and we can then reach that euphoria as brilliantly found in your wonderful words Fay.
