the movie

I loved this movie as a child.

the movie that showed me love before i could understand what love was.

the movie i cried to every time i watched it.

the movie that i can quote to this day.

when i met my first love i gave him my copy of this movie.

he fell in love with the movie and even more with me.

we related it to us and when we were split up we found ourselves watching it every night.

but, i lost the love for everything but the movie.

i grew apart from everything but the long credits at the end.

then i met you.

you became my movie.

yet i wanted to show you my favorite film, but i was scared i would think of him.

not scared that i would feel the feelings i had with him.

but scared i wouldn't love the movie anymore.

because you deserve all my love, not my left over bits from another.

we watched the movie and i thought to myself that i couldn't find myself thinking of my past love.

and all i could do was reflect the movie to you and i.

It was like my first time watching the movie all over again.

better yet, you dreaded to watch a cheesy love story but you fell in love with it too.

i don't think it was the movie, it was the feeling of our love itself. 

to watch their love reunite and to watch their love take them away together reminded you of what we will be.

i felt guilt for not telling you the movie was shared with me and my past love.

but i couldn't let the past things ruin this movie for my love with you. 

the movie brought us love tonight, a little bit more than we had.

this is not our movie, but this love is ours.
