Tune: Abridge
('Be thou my guardian and my guide')
Matthew 4 v.13-17
**********
Jesus left Nazareth*, did come
Unto Capernaum*
Which is on sea coast, in borders
Zabulon#, Nepthalim's# shoulders
That it might be fulfilled, was said
By Isaiah^, he led
To prophesy, saying, Christ He
To northern lands comes, see
Lands of Zabulon, Nepthalim
By way of the sea@, Him
See, you land beyond the Jordan
See Christ now, every one
Galilee of the Gentiles, who
People in darkness true+
Did see great light, Christ there revealed
His nature not concealed
And too they sat in the shadow
Of death, they shall now know
Christ's light, the regions illumined
Brightness does not rescind
Then Jesus He began to preach
That He all nations reach
Repent, for kingdom of heaven
Is near, be ready then

Did you know that there was no such place as Nazareth when Jesus was alive. It did not exist until 300 years after his death. Jesus was a Nazarean who were a sect very much opposed to the occupation of their land by the roman empire.
There are a lot of facts which the christian churches have twisted to suit their aims since the early days of the roman church before the reformation. A faith in a higher power (or God if you prefer) is widely accepted in the west (and by me you may be surprised to learn) outside of the established churches but the twisting of facts for strange reasons has led to the unpopularity of christianity by and large.
Thanks dusk. A somewhat historical piece today - but non-fiction, I say!
Well arguing with established facts gives the phrase 'blind faith' new impetus I guess.
Good one Orchi.
Thanks Gold.
