The first notes sounded
And it came to me,
That smile came onto my face.
They were playing music,
My type of music
From the time
That bebop ruled,
Ruled the jazz world.
Just the six of them
Sending this amazing sound
Into my heart,
Into my soul.
And evening of unbounded delight
Taking me to new places,
To new places in my Universe.
Alan Barnes – alto/baritone saxophone
Bruce Adams – trumpet
Dean Masser – tenor saxophone
Andrezej Baranek – piano
Ed Harrison – bass
Gaz Hughes – drums

- Comment from author about the poem: I knew the evening would be good, they were playing Art Blakey music, but I didn't realise it was going to be that good. A wonderful evening of jazz.

A fine write and experience Gold.
It surely was Orchi.
Ya wants be-bop? Shouldda played some Diz and Bird.
But you already knew that. Sounds like you had a great evenings entertainment.
It was a super evening, the alto and tenor sax were playing in the Bird style and the trumpeter tried to do Diz, obviously not as good as them.
The drummer, Gaz Hughes was tremendous, it is the first time I have heard the tune to Caravan played on the drums!!
The piano player I could have listened to all evening. All great guys and we had a good chat in the interval.
