Today is a day for weeping
A day for remembering
I want to follow the rainbow
With my eyes closed
Both feet encased in concrete
I sink below the waves
Beethoven’s fifth symphony
Whistled by a pod of dolphins
Fear is only for the fearless
As the timid rise in triumph
Today is a day for laughing
A day for loving
I watch chained ugliness
Beat to death by beauty
Freed of all boundaries
I surrender to the unknown
A New Orleans funeral march
Floating haltingly in the still air
Hope is only for the hopeless
As the passionate revel in love

It's all in ones outlook and mood i guess because both of these opposing days have their place in my life. Though i'm pleased to relate to the positive more readily.
Nicely written opposites. Both could be applicable to the same day or event.
Your last line begs my response. I'm passionate but revelling in love unfortunately evades me currently so i revel in the occasional outpouring of poetry.
Thanks d a, you know revelling in love does not need to be restricted to a person. You love poetry, do you? So you are revelling in love! 🙂
today is a day to read quality poetry so im glad i came across this one. im still learning my craft and this was a good read for the imagery and subject matter so thank you
Thank YOU, 23! Glad you enjoyed my scribble.
A fantastic orchestration of words here Fred - - loved the arrangementt with repeat of mantras like Fear is only for the fearless " and "Hope is only for the hopeless"- - shall remember them both and ponder their truth. Great read on Today.
Thank you so much Fay, coming from a writer of your standing does mean a lot to me.
I enjoyed this very much and like Fay i loved the lines fear is for the fearless and hope is for the hopeless.
Thank you Saxon, I pondered quite a while before writing these two lines.
Wonderful dichotomy of the two stanzas Fred. Great write.
Andy
Thank you Goldie, your comment is very much appreciated!
A fine write Fred.
I keep meaning to do all these things 'today', but when I get round to them, it's 'tomorrow'. Strange that! lol.
Orchie, you are not the only one, sometimes it is even after tomorrow! But hey, the main thing is we get them done.
