Nicotine Spirit

railasunshine

Empty stomach

Brimming brain

Lungs invite the nicotine

Feel it spreading through my veins

Sudden attention bestowed to me

A subtle moan, a desperate plea

Who am I in sober wake

A shitty state for pity’s sake

Loneliness awake the ache

Heart bending not to break

A memory that won’t retain

I am no victim of my mistakes

A night of regret for numbness sake

Eyes pleading take the pain

A moment something satisfies

I rest, relax, press into lies

And then I find myself alone

Once again cut to the bone

There is no love
There is no sight

There are just words

Whisper I’m alright

And in the dark
Embrace the night

I beg this heart

Give up the fight
